Zoe, a violist, is a rising sophomore in the McCallum High School Fine Arts Academy. Her honors include the Leadership Award (Sinfonia Orchestra at Texas State Strings Camp 2017, 2018), the “Best In Class” award for the AISD Solo and Ensemble Festival each year since 6th grade, and Honorable Mention in the American Viola Society Junior Finals in 2018. She’s been part of Austin Youth Orchestra every year since 3rd grade, currently playing in the Symphony. Zoe enjoys attending music camps and institutes, with a special interest in chamber music. She's been fortunate to study with many excellent teachers including John Largess of the Miró Quartet, James Dunham, and her private teacher, Daniel Gee Cordova.
Jared is a 17 year old violinist who’s been playing for 12 years. He is dedicated to enhancing and enriching the lives of others through music and all the gifts that come with it. He's a senior at Hyde Park High School and is getting ready for college applications. Violin is a big part of his life and he hopes to spread that gift with others.
Claire is an incoming senior in high school who loves playing the cello. She has won numerous prizes in competitions such as the Collin County Young Artist Competition and the Fort Worth Symphony Young Artist Competition. Most recently, she was invited to play on From The Top Show #381 in Key West, FL. Claire has attended many summer festivals including the Greenwood Music Camp, the Heifetz International Institute, and the Meadowmount School of Music where she studied with Hans Jorgen Jensen. This year, Claire was named a 2020 Texas Young Master. She currently studies with Norman Fischer and Clive Greensmith. Claire hopes to use her love of music to spread empathy and understanding.
Sally has enjoyed being a violinist for thirteen years, and has loved participating in various chamber groups, orchestras, institutes, and work shops throughout her musical career. She has been a member of the All Region Orchestra for the past four years, as well as being a member of the Honors Orchestra at the Liberal Arts and Sciences Academy. She is passionate about spreading music within the community, and has previously enjoyed teachings children with her church in the Austin Community.
Travis is a rising freshman at LASA high school. He has played the viola for 11 years. Travis has played in various ensembles including the All-Region Orchestra. He enjoys playing basketball and collecting sports memorabilia.
Lucy is a rising junior at the McCallum Fine Arts Academy who has been playing violin since the age of 7 under the direction of Danny Gee Cordova. In addition to playing with the McCallum Chamber Orchestra, Lucy has also played with the Austin Youth Orchestra, the Austin Suzuki Music Tour Group, and various ensembles through the Austin Chamber Music Center for the past 5 years. When she isn’t playing or listening to classical music, you can usually find her listening to film scores and Broadway tunes, or working on her own side project, Doorstep Duets (donation based performances for those staying safe at home during Covid-19). Lucy is looking forward to working with her friends and helping K2KStrings connect with their community
Arnav is a rising junior at LASA High School, and has been playing cello since 6th grade. He learns the cello under the tutelage of Melissa Solomon. He participates in Quizbowl in school, and loves to read books and listen to music in his free time. He is looking forward to sharing his love of music with others.
Anika is a rising freshman at LASA high school. She has been playing the violin for 10 years and is a longtime student of Megan Canney. Anika was Concertmaster of the Region 18 All-Region MS Symphony Orchestra, Concertmaster of the Interlochen Intermediate Strings Orchestra as well as a member of UT-Austin String Project, Austin Youth Orchestra, and Kealing Symphony Orchestra. A highlight of her training is being a student at Interlochen Center for the Arts in northern Michigan for the past 5 summers. Outside of violin, Anika enjoys swim team, running track, and spending time with friends and family. Anika is excited to share her love of the violin with other students.
Euna is a rising senior and has been playing cello for over 12 years under the guidance of Dr. Shu-yi Scott and Dr. Tanya Carey. She has played in the Symphony of Austin Youth Orchestra for three years and participated in many different chamber music groups throughout her musical career. She has played for numerous notable cello professors such as Clive Greensmith and Amir Eldan, and has performed across the country and internationally. She loves to work with kids and help them learn to play with joy and practice smarter, not longer. She is also able to teach in Mandarin Chinese.
Miguel is a rising senior at LASA High School. He started playing piano eleven years ago and has been playing the cello for the past seven years. He was a member of the Kealing Symphony Orchestra and is currently a member of the LASA High School Honors Orchestra. Miguel has also participated in the All-Region orchestra since seventh grade and has won the "Best in Class" award in the Austin ISD Solo and Ensemble competition. Miguel has played in several chamber groups and has played in Austin Youth Orchestra. He has also participated in several summer music institutes, including Luzerne Music Festival. Miguel has also received several awards in music competitions over the past decade.
Keshav and Kavya are the founders of K2K Strings and are excited to embark on this project with studio mates they have grown up playing music with and getting to work with new musician friends. Keshav and Kavya run the Austin chapter of Harmonies for the Elderly, a group that performs at memory care facilities. They are both senior students of Daniel Gee Cordova.
Keshav is a 2020 Texas Young Master and a winner of the 2021 National YoungArts.
Natalie is a rising senior in Oklahoma City. She has studied privately with Kelli Ingels since 2013 and she plays violin with the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra under the direction of Jeffrey Grogan. The past three summers, Natalie was chosen for the violin section of the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain. Her Junior year she was awarded first place while playing viola in the Student String Quartet Competition sponsored by Chamber Music in Oklahoma. In 2019 she studied with Dr. Gregory Lee and Katrin Stamatis at the OU Summer Strings Academy. In addition to playing violin and viola, she is a varsity member of the OKC Boathouse Junior Crew where she rows competitively.
Fiona is a rising junior at Bowie High School and has played the viola for five years. Coming from a diverse musical background, she has played with groups such as the Kealing Rockestra and the pit orchestra for Bowie's school musical this past year, Big Fish. She has performed at the UIL Solo and Ensemble contest for several years, receiving superior ratings on her performances on both Viola and Piano solos. For the past three years, Fiona has worked with middle school students at a region audition clinic and is eager to gain teaching experience with more students through this program. As a future music education major she is looking forward to helping middle schoolers learn and grow in their playing and hopes to share her passion for music with them.
Jacqueline is an upcoming Junior at McCallum Fine Arts Academy and has been playing viola for 5 years while studying under Sara Driver. She has previously taught students, from beginners to middle school students preparing for TMEA Region audition music. Jacqueline has been to New York City with her middle school chamber orchestra, and was chosen to play a solo for Remi Pelletier, a New York Philharmonic violist. She has been in TMEA Region, Symphony Orchestra for 4 years. This past year she also qualified for State Solo and Ensemble, but unfortunately couldn't perform due to Covid-19. Jacqueline has attended Texas String Camp run by Pasha Sabouri, once in the Young Artist division, and this past year in the Rising Stars division. She's very excited to start helping other students learn more about the viola!
Alice is a rising senior at Hebron High School in Carrollton, TX. She has studied with Charles Krigbaum and is currently studying with Ronald Houston. Alice has been selected for the past 3 years in the TMEA All State Orchestra where she was principal violist in 2020 and assistant principal in 2019. She was also placed in the All Region Symphony Orchestra since 2017. Alice has participated in multiple ensembles including UNT Summer String Institute, Baylor University Summer Music Camp, Lone Star Young Artist Program, and Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra. In her free time, Alice enjoys gaming and reading.
